ENG The artist was inspired by ancient Egypt, starting with the magnificent granite statue of Ramses II (1303–1212 B.C.) housed at the Egyptian Museum in Turin. She has created a red and blue mirror for the greatest pharaoh. Lava black and coral red are the colours of the sumptuous mirror Nefertari (1295–1255 B.C.), the most illustrious of Ramses II’s wives. The mirror dedicated to Set(h)i I (1324–1279 B.C.), the pharaoh devoted to the god Seth, has the colours of the sun because Seti’s best friend was the sun god Ra. The mirror Sahura (whose coronation was 2500 B.C.) is electric blue and red. A stone statue of him stands in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Tyrus, Kinda and Anaki are three mythical Egyptian figures who make up Sara Forte’s personal imagery: it was she who invented them. The mirror Tyrus is orangey red, Anaki is emerald green, while Kinda is lime green.
